I developed the same issue and avoided it for years but I wanted to try again. i got gummies with the lowest amount of THC I could find, combined with CBG which is the least psychoactive cannabinoid and gives me a strong feel-good effect. I would only take a quarter of one to start out with, then I built up to half, then up to one! They stopped selling those at the place I go to so I switched to mints. I kind of had to power through it while I built up my tolerance but I can now take one without any weird side effects and feel very relaxed (or relieve pain without feeling impaired!) or I can take two if I want to feel a little high
