Oh I’m sad to hear about Esposito’s. We‘d buy our meat there despite John the owner of Staubitz being our landlord (my mother said he weighted his scales, that woman knew what two pounds of pork/veal/beef looked like lol). The escarole with garlic and potato croquettes at Sam’s are even better than my mother’s. Vincent in the back would know it was our order because I always ordered the same three things, so he’d always add a little extra pile of his perfectly fried garlic to the escarole. I don’t remember his name, but the waiter who was always in a track suit (while carrying in his waistband!) was really nice to toddlers. Thanks for the memories. Still miss Cobble Hill.

Thank you thank you! Places like Esposito is exactly why I want to compile a list so that they don’t go the way of RIP or if they do at least I can try to go before they do.

Nothing beats a perfect Italian sub. My favorite of all time was from Edgewood subs in cranston RI- unfortunately i think they sold the business. I used to live behind here years ago and I still dream about their perfect sandwiches. the shop gave off HUGE money laundering vibes and was always filled w old Italian men playing cards. It was a perfect place. Anyway, here is my lunch spread today
