If youve ever been curious about the culture and science around drugs, Vice had a series called Hamilton’s Pharmacopia. Some episodes/ specials are available on YT. Premise: Documentary Series- Hamilton Morris is a chemist with a proclivity for studying the effects of different substances and how they work. Each episode is interesting he interviews all sorts of ppl from all walks of life. For instance: interviews a visual artist seemingly addicted to DMT, Native Americans who welcomed him to experience a guided ritual, scientists who did jail time for synthseizing research chemicals… and so so so many more. I‘m not super into the chemistry aspect, but a significant aspect of his show is based in the sociological and psychological affects of illicit substance. I linked one of my favorite episodes:) I also just luv Hamilton ❣️ and if he ever sees this 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 lolz

i haven’t watched them all and idk if they’re relaxing necessarily, but it’s this guy who literally just travels and learns about the cultivation / production, culture, and effects (firsthand) of different drugs lol the actual show is on hulu but the older, shorter version of it is on youtube totally free

Nothing like a good piece of science news to snap you out of the daily stream of controversies, groupchat notifications and memes and remind you of the wonders of the world. Came across this report of a first documented case of a wild animal using medicinal plants to treat a wound. Researchers observed that an orangutan in Indonesia named "Rakus fed on and later applied the masticated leaves of Fibraurea tinctoria to his facial wound on June 25. On June 26 he was again observed feeding on Fibraurea tinctoria leaves (see photo). By June 30 the wound was closed and by August 25 was barely visible anymore."

a study issued last month found that dancing is the most effective way of treating and mitigating depression. Walking, therapy, and yoga also outpaced SSRIs. and if you're saying 'oh this was probably funded by Big Dance', there's no evidence of that and if you're saying 'that's just what a Big Dance shill would say', well honey you're right
