And no i’m NOT talking the Coolidge that place is basically an AMC. i’m talking embassy theater waltham where they have 2 theaters and every sign is cardboard and sharpie. Random office chairs everywhere (pictured). Butter for popcorn is land-o-lakes melted in a croc pot that the 2 gay guys at the counter ladle on for you. So sick

the amc a-list is well-known gem, but it is really one of the best deals available, especially after the recent change they made to it. four movies a week! what! However I get sometimes you just have to go to the cinema on a budget, tickets can be expensive. STILL, support your local independent theater if you can!! at least around me there are multiple rep theaters (shoutout the coolidge theater in Boston and the Brattle in Cambridge) that constantly show old films and introduce classics to a new audience. I will die for these theaters, and I try to find a balance between using my a-list for new movies and seeing rep screenings at the indies! you can do both! I LOVE MOVIES!!!!

on top of all the other reasons to avoid the big chains if you can, you can completely avoid seeing the argyle or bob marley trailers if you go to some tiny theater with sticky, non reclining seats. the one i used to go to only played ads for local dentists and elder care services, it was great

I love hand-writing a letter. the delayed gratification of it, talking about anything and nothing, decorating it with cartoons and drawings and stickers. Sending little extras and photographs with tiny micro-playlists scrawled out on the back of it. It takes at least an hour to craft a good letter, one worth receiving and replying to, and it's intimate to think about someone nonstop for that long. I just love that form of communication.

As pi.fyi gains popularity I notice more and more people using it like twitter/trying to hit an algorithm/”tweetdecking” recs/memeing so incongruent to me because pi truly feels like a place of respite from all the aforementioned internet behavior. using it to identify and share small joys from your day, talk about things you want more of in your life, share about yourself, explore things you’re curious about … I promise that’s “good content”. 🫶
