starting collections

one of my childhood pleasures that have stuck w me since. i love realizing i own 2 things of the same nature and deciding to expand my collection HOWEVER it needs to be a sincere collection (something u build over a long period of time and where each item has a little backstory) as opposed to an artificial one (getting 30 items in one go from the same place.) so far i have a silver rings collection and a "rocks that have a strange shape or pattern" one!

strange objects

One of the greatest obsession of my life: finding strange (natural or artificial) objects. Any country I’ve been to, any landscape will have a different assortment- flavour- vibe to the collection they offer. Bonus points if you bring them home and amass a huge collection that spreads your surfaces like a new virus. Let nature and human trash take over. Make your therapist worried about the state of your mental health. Turn your apartment into the miniature random exhibit you’ve always dreamt of.

Collecting something you love

If you collect things thinking that they’re going to amass value or one day become worth something, you miss out on the potential to feel value now. Collect things that make you smile and feel nostalgic. Collect memories, and items that are incredibly personal and meaningful to you specifically. Collect over a long period of time so you can continue to feel joy and excitement when you find another treasure. So collect plush Scooby Doo blankets from the early 2000s, and smile to yourself when you pull one out on a cold day. Collect silly and impractical mugs, and laugh with your friends when you serve them warm tea. Collect little match boxes from your favorite local places even though you don’t smoke. When you collect something you love, it’s like filling your space with love, and in turn, loving yourself.
