A “good” romance novel (thinking EmHen, maybe “Practice Makes Perfect” by Sarah Adams, “the bodyguard” by Katherine Center) does not (completely) contribute to brain atrophy, it makes you believe in romantic love even though you haven’t seen it in a while, it makes you cry because wow to be known by another, how special. But a shitty romance novel (thinking more along the lines of Romantic Suspense, “The Obsession” by Nora Roberts, “The Crush” by Sandra Brown)… now these are fun to read, and not in a Colleen Hoover Hate Read kind of way. The stories are ridiculous, but they have HIGH STAKES. These people are GOING THROUGH THINGS. And the authors do a great job of telling a compelling story. Romance with Stakes! How fun!

Currently working my way through Emily Henry's bibliography and having a blast. If you wanna read sth slightly more highbrow then Id maybe suggest Normal People? Not necessarily a happy book but, to me, itfeels comforting. Also could definitely recommend children's books when you are looking for stories with happy endings

Nothing like decompressing from a stressful work week with a delicious romance novel. The cuteness, the angst, the swooning, the SPICE, the delusion it evokes from deep within your body will perform an incomparable spiritual rejuvenation. This weekend’s romance is Courting Samira by Amal Awad!

It’s kind of a buy one get one free situation because you get the first romance as well as the second one of them falling back in love with each other. You were so passionate you ended it with someone and yet you found your way back and decided that the love was worth working through your pain?? Are you kidding me?? notable example: you deserve each other by Sarah Hogle. fav niche trope tho is the epistolary romance… fall in love w me via prolonged email exchange please
