today I taught myself how to do something I’ve been wanting to learn for years. All it took was some mental determination and YouTube and ~voila~ joy forever. The gift that keeps giving.

Today i got a flat tire and had to put my spare on. I pulled into a grocery store parking lot and got the job done. A few people came over to offer help, one guy had an impact drill so helped me tighten the bolts, but i felt confident that i knew what i was doing.
I don’t think most people would look at me and think “yeah i bet she can change a tire in that outfit.” but i did it. It feels good to know how to do stuff. I like being able to do silly little tasks around my apartment, or change my own oil, or make a creme brulee. I’m learning french. I can mend my clothes. It feels like im just bragging but truly i feel so accomplished and grown up when i can fix small problems by myself.

When I was 14 I started video editing my favorite tv shows and movies and people bc I wanted to do it and be really good at it. 7 years later and I’m still evolving, don’t do it all the time but now when I do the hard work and dedication paid off … Just making little videos of characters on television but damn I can do it the way I always dreamed of now

I signed up for an 8-week jewelry class last month on a (kind of) whim. I work full time in Marketing for a food start up so ALOT of time feeling stressed on screens. I love making stuff with my hands and have always been curious about jewelry making so I enrolled at a course at my local Adult Education Center!!
Last night was my first class and I’m so so so happy I did it. It’s so cool to CHOOSE to learn (outside a more forced school setting) and spend hours dedicated to a new craft. I included a picture of the first thing I made hehe. I sawed, drilled, filed, sanded and stamped. i felt so proud and powerful using tools and doing something totally new
If anyone needs a push to try something new creatively do it!! Dedicate the time. if you know you can’t force yourself to learn alone in your room (me neither) a community center is great. Holds you accountable to show up and your supporting a cool org.

When someone asks you something you think you should know the answer to/feel ashamed that you don’t know, say “hmm I don’t know!” And then you learn something new! No shame needed, only learning and vibes. it’s embarrassing for them if they think you should be embarrassed!
