i always put on minimalist classical music when i'm trying to be productive and can't sit in silence because the textures feel active but it also feels static and slow moving at the same time on a macro level. octet is one of my favs - idk if that counts as emotionally neutral but it works for me!
The cyclical and repetitive nature of someone like Steve Reich, Anthony Braxton, Philip Glass, etc.'s work can take the spiraling of trying to focus on homework out of your synapses and into your headphones.
Been feeling especially overwhelmed the last three days so Iโve only listened to soft classical music. I also donโt know enough so I take whatever spotify gives me as long as it fits my noise level requirements. This and their โquiet soft piano mixโ playlist are on rotation. Fills the empty gaps/folds in my brain like sand in a jar of golf balls.
Idk it just makes everything have some more intent some more thought some simulation that is just enough to do stuff but not enough to feel overwhelmed
i need to say Thanks to a bunch of musicians but especially ryuichi sakamoto for this feeling
