You’ve come to the right place… Firstly, you need gratitude. So much whimsy comes from gratitude. This may take some slowing down and noticing. How cozy does your bed feel? How lucky you are to have a cozy bed? Take a noticing walk- go slowly, look around. Pay attention to what draws you in, and take your time examining. Actually see and engage with the world around you. Engage with music, dancing, singing. Craft even if you’re not talented at it. Say hi to your neighbors. Say hi to strangers. Look the check out person in the eye. Do loving things for yourself. Buy yourself flowers. Love the things you did as a child. Literally run around and skip and frolic. Do things that bring you joy but you may find embarrassing. Every day, think about how lucky you are to be who you are and have what you have. The other side of whimsy is feeling your feelings. Can’t access joy and excitement when you’re weighed down. Make space for them as they come up, then find a way to let them go. Think about what has taken whimsy from your life. Not all stress can be reduced, but there may be many things you can disengage from or get rid of. Explore that. We all have access to whimsy. I believe in you!

the other night, i said to my friend “wow, isn’t it fantastic that we were born on a planet where flowers grow on trees like that?” while fully sober, and she laughed and said it sounded like something someone on dr ugs would say. i like to think about the world that way, like i am looking around for the first time ever. sometimes we forget how lucky we are, especially in the digital age where 100 alternatives to the real world breeze by us in just a few minutes. isn’t it fantastic that outside my window, there are trees that are alive and breathing? birds that were born, and sing, and love, just like we do? how lucky are we? when i look around at the world with that point of view, i never run out of things to be astounded by. if you look for whimsy everywhere, it will be found there too.

I am overwhelmed with emotion. The type of movie where the credits start rolling and you have to sit there in the dark for a while.
