My favorite bookstore in NYC. Amazing selection of rare books, the space is intimate but usually not too packed. They have niche reads in about every subject you can think of, and it's a great spot to meet people

Molasses Books (Bushwick) - I always find something good here. They have a tiny little bar so you can get coffee, tea, beer or wine. Always a nice ambiance
Honeymoon Coffee (Ridgewood) - their books are curated by Molasses so it’s a nice selection & the coffee/treats are good
Topos Bookstore (Ridgewood) - great selection of books, though I find more at Molasses typically. They also have coffee/tea! Cute outdoor seating area
Aeon Books (LES/Chinatown) - maybe my favorite bookstore. Lovely selection of old and new. They also have a little corner with records for sale (Found a cool Francis Bebey record there once)
Dashwood Bookstore (NOHO I guess?) - owner is so sweet & the photo book selection is incredible

Amazing selection of used books, unlike any other I’ve seen! I also love Mercer St Books and Records near Bleecker.

For new books: McNally Jackson (kinda an obvious choice, always a really good selection, Soho & Williamsburg locations)
Greenlight Bookstore (my local new books bookstore, where I go most often, Fort Greene BK)
For used books: Housing Works Bookstore (some great finds here, housing works is a nonprofit that fights AIDS and homelessness, they mostly have thrift stores but also this 1 used book shop!) The Strand (another obvious one but I go here so often too tbh)
Unnameable Books (many people have said this already but want to +1 it! my local shop!)

Last Thursday, a meteor appeared in the night sky over Los Angeles. I stood in place for 30 seconds watching it blaze brilliant red and orange before fizzling out suddenly. The experience moved me immensely and filled me with a sense of hope that I hadn’t felt in quite some time. I read later that it was a SpaceX satellite. I wish I hadn’t.

There's something about a wet and humid early morning that heals my soul. It's like a free sound bath. Especially if you are lucky and have a little bit of thunder alongside.

I have done this everywhere that I have lived. There are some beautiful images lost on the discarded blank face of a postcard, and they deserve to be cherished just as much as the big piece of art you have framed in your living room. You can find many for cheap at your local thrift. There’s a lot of fun to be had in grouping different images together for a collage effect. Space them out a bit more if it all feels a bit claustrophobic. Use some blue painter's tape for a pop of color.
