It drives me crazy but I love when I figure out what it is. Especially stuff that's hidden in a sample.

Contrary to how it sounds, this rec doesn't come from a place of pretentiousness or pride. Much to the contrary, I become absolutely giddy when I come across a song whose title escapes me but is on the tip of my tongue. I go into full sonic sleuth mode -- using any combination of lyrics, whosampled.com, similar artists etc until I finally find the song title via my own prowess. Shazam isn't cheating, but it's also nowhere near as fun.

I will Shazam even the most obvious of songs. One time I Shazamed “Someday” by the Strokes in front of an ”Indie music boy” and his reaction was like I had just run over his cat. I just love shazamming!!!

It’s like capturing a Pokémon. There is not much control or insularity in this world but when that song ends and the next one plays, there is nothing like the rush of stealing a new piece of sound to keep as your own 🫶

i have noticed occasionally that some recs are turning into, dare i say, tweet-esque things…i think it’s easy to slip into acting like this is any old social media platform when it is not that; it is a special little place to tell people things you love ❣️🌀
