i only heard about it two weeks after it happened but her death was so sudden and shocking, and it felt as if she was leading a shift in music culture with so many genuinely innovative ideas. then she died, and so did all of those cooler ideas bubbling under pop music for the second half of the 2010s.

The fact that she died falling off a roof trying to look at the moon adds to the shock tbh

There’s several artists who have passed away too young and their deaths still hurt us years later. For me it’s the late and great Avicii. He was someone I looked up to because I always found it amazing how his tracks made me and so many others feel better/good. I remember when the news broke out about his death I was in my final month of my senior year of high school. It was the first time that someone’s death who I didn’t know hurt me as if I did know them. I can’t listen one of his final tracks ā€œHeavenā€ without getting emotional. I miss you Tim Bergling ā¤ļø

every time i hear a harry styles or dodie song i am immediately transported back to my bedroom in 2020 and it's just insane to me how much power music has to provoke memories and bring back emotions - i always am reminded by my teenage loneliness and insecurity when i hear these artists bc that's what dominated my life at the time i listened to them nonstop but it's fun realising that i still know all the lyrics and i can look back fondly on the person i used to be

i know that most people cool enough to post here probably know this by now, but wired headphones are the best. for audio quality, yes, but also cos i’m wearing jeans with rly small front pockets, so my phone is in my back pocket and my wired headphones tell me that my phone hasn’t been stolen again

substacks are the modern blogs now, right?
i've got my own substack linked in my profile under 'website' (i need to post more often, working on that). and of course, rayne-fisher-quann's substack is top tier. i read her stuff and i wish i could write nearly that well.
as far as traditional blogs (ie, dedicated websites), dangerous minds is a cool music blog that posts (or at least used to post) about random things in the world of 70s and 80s art rock and post-punk. again, not sure how active they still are but it's got that loose writing style and primitive design of the late 00s/early 10s blog era that i wasn't really around for but get nostalgic over nonetheles.

cos half of us are experiencing the feeling of being genuine on public social media for the first time and we don't know how to handle it!
