omg yes!! my people... my grandma taught me how to make oatmeal as the first thing i ever learned how to cook, she'd use chicken broth as the base and add milk (i also like to hardboil an egg - crushing and incorporating the yolk into the oatmeal), it sounds kind of strange but it's too sentimental to me and i won't hear any critique of it :p

yes!! i grew up with a mom who only ate savory cream of wheat so as an adult i only like savory oatmeal... put an egg on that thing!

savory breakfast

sweet breakfast is fun and cozy, but today I made savory oatmeal (seasoned with goya adobo and old bay) with a fried egg and let a lil pad of butter melt over it all and topped with some frank’s red hot. I even put some salt in with my cafe bustelo on the moka pot (to cut some bitterness, sometimes you don’t want the full bite of black cafe bustelo). i’m full of electrolytes, protein, and caffeine, and I feel like I’m ready to put in a long shift at the factory (idk maybe i’ll go on a bike ride or something)

savory oatmeal

i tried it this morning after seeing the talk on here about it/running out of groceries and yes. fine. it's good. real good. more filling than rice. oats almond milk over medium egg avocado crumbled bacon red pepper flakes snake oil hot sauce. u win!!!
