I found her work on Mubi and was immediately obsessed. I love anyone making funny shit with an elevated visual language.

I’m convinced that this YouTuber based in London is the most criminally underrated artist of our generation. She is able to capture what it’s like to be in your 20s in a big city, just trying your best to connect to your creativity while also doing all the little things you have to do. She uses mainly two different cameras— a nice Sony and an old camcorder— and I love how that creates a multi-textured visual style. Her editing style is superb, lots of fade-in’s and superimposed images. Her needle drops honestly rival Scorsese’s, and her monologues/prose remind me at times of Kerouac and others Babitz. Sometimes she includes cheeky little skits that verge on magical realism. They’re hilarious, while also walking the line between absurdity and Truth. i haven’t been able to find her on social media, but I follow her Spotify because her playlists are insanely good. Linking the video I discovered of hers— but highly recommend diving deep into her other works.

from her illustrations to her videography work and everything in between. i love her taxi driver short published on yt. her works purely hand-made, openly discontent but also defyingly enthusiastic, consistently propelled by a charming tendency for inquisitiveness, sort of goofy when it has (and especially when it wants) to. symbolically and factually naked, also - just like this short! im not good at describing things i like sorry but i think everyone should check her out shes inspiring and brilliant and fearless sort of

I love her. So funny and such a comfort creator to me. She’s been doing YT for a while but then stopped, and came back and now I’m re-obsessed with her. she’s Canadian and very cool. If you like vlogs, she’s a good one to watch

I’m very anti-free-will-pilled rn. This new book Determined: A Science of Life Without Free Will, argues all the baseline variables that precede action (our past, our current mood, our biology, our culture, etc) have an inescapable effect on our choices. To me, this is isn’t hopeless–it’s humanist! The alchemy of what motivates us is crazy! There is a traceable, individually justified reason for why we all do what we do. It’s helped me approach myself and others with openness and curiosity, instead of judgment. Like, think about the confluence of influences that drives one to goon. The world is magical place.

Some of his songs are so atonal and chaotic you kind of have to just give up and experience it. First listen, I remember hearing a wall of autotune, blown-out 808s & distorted hi-hats until a clear-as-day 2011 Chief Keef reference emerged like the sun breaking through storm clouds. Some of his music sounds like he’s pulling from every microgenre of rap from 2007 until now, at once. It’s so overwhelming it’s palette cleansing. I listen to his music the same way perfume shops keep a cup of coffee beans.

Natalie and Charlie can excavate the funny yet human truth out of literally anything. For a lack of better words: Seinfeldian. I’ve done the pod (twice!) and did their live show at the Bellhouse not too long ago. Had a blast. They’re both very smart & very silly people, and the audience they’ve cultivated reflects that.
