I played ultimate all 4 years and it was a great experience thats had a very positive experience on my life. Here are some of the reasons to join: - Wide range of people. There were frat and dweebs, stoners and people who didn’t drink all participating in the same activity. - Community. It’s hard in college and in life to find community and its built into club sports team. You party together, get meals at the dining hall, go on spring break together, etc. - Good structured way to stay in shape. Practice a couple times a week, tournaments on some weekends will keep you active and healthy - Life long friends. Until 6 months ago, I had continuously lived with a friend from ultimate since I was 19 and I’m 29 now - Fun new skills. Don’t worry if you don’t know how to throw! Some kids play on a high school team but most people start at the same level

Genuinely think everyone should try it once in their life. there is not a sport out there that gets me more competitive and fired up, whilst also having a really friendly and welcoming atmosphere! if you’re at uni and they have it as a society I strongly recommend giving a session a go, can also just find local clubs / meet ups on facebook and try it through that way. It’s stupid and goofy and shouldn’t really work, but it does and that’s what’s so great about it….

- Lots of room for skill gap. While you'll certainly play people who are better than you, you have to win less games than them to win a match - Guy named Spanky (73y/o) who fucks with me apparently. he unplugs from his O2 tank to play his games. he might not be in your league but this is a type of guy you'll meet - You can set your own name in the APA app (mine is Snoopy Dunphy): i played against "wolverine walsh" last week and "spider-man lynch" was on the other team this week - The league operator gives out patches for accomplishments (good sportsmanship, beat the league op. in a game, etc) - Most people I've dealt with there are friendly - Dues are pretty reasonable ($25 to join, $10 per session you play in) - You get to go to new bars and neighborhoods you haven't been to before It'll feel like a hard commit at first but it's worth it especially if you do it with your friends -

accounting for wind, angling the frisbee just-so and watching it meander through the air right into the hands of your homie. I’ve personally never been bitter or anxious while tossing the disc outside with someone I love. This is also true of nerf footballs

Just because I see a window to get across the street doesn’t mean you don’t have to look both ways. I’ve been on the other side of that though…

I met Erin (@RIOTGRRRL) and Jake (@SLOWDAZZLE) last year after I started using PI.FYI—we organized a meetup before a Jonathan Richman show and immediately clicked over our shared taste in music and similar sensibilities. We started hanging out a lot and had some great times together. I’ve also gotten to know many of their friends, who are all really cool. Erin and Jake started dating a couple of months after the three of us became friends, but our group chat still pops off. Their friendship has meant a lot to me, especially since moving to NYC in 2023, and I really appreciate having them in my life.
