Before they stepped up security this was amazing, just saying (see also: the 606). Idk about now but yeah, beachfront as you get closer to Evanston or South Shore would probably do the trick. Peep @southshorenaturesanctuary on IG. Maybe Northerly Island Park née Meigs Field would work (should be pretty empty in winter)... or level up to Steelworkers Park (probably want a car for that one).

if you peddle all the way to the south end (lat/long linked), you'll see: - a cool prairie remnant - the lake, close up and wavy and windy. maybe some folks fishing. - the city from a different angle

Not a bando. Not really nature. But it's relaxing and good people watching in the summer. Here are some of my favorite spots: - Promontory Point in Hyde Park - The little piece of land that wraps around the south side of Montrose harbor. Heck, everything from Montrose to Foster is really great. You don't need a dog to enjoy the dog beach. - The park that starts at Pratt Blvd and the lake and goes north for a few blocks has great benches. I've met awesome people there over the years.

This time of year you really can’t go wrong with hanging out at any of the beaches or spending time in Lincoln Park. Get as much sunshine as possible! Hard to give just a few food recs but my faves now probably are Rose Mary, Mama Delia, and Armitage Ale House. For something quicker get tacos at La Pasadita or a hot dog or a burger at Red Hot Ranch. A lot of good thrifting/antiques on Grand Avenue in West Town if you’re into that, and then some awesome bookstores too are Myopic Books in Wicker Park and Open Books in Logan Square. The Robey Hotel is also an amazing place to grab drinks, now that it’s summer their pool bar will be open too! If that’s not your speed and you just want a good ol dive bar and cheap cans of beer, Rainbo Club is right down the road from there! Enjoy!

Finally saw this for the first time (on 35mm thxx Prince Charles Cinema) and wow. Jonathan Glazer and co-writer Jean-Claude Carrière spending all of pre-production re-writing the script without informing the studio… DP Harris Savides pushing the boundaries of underexposed film and getting the craziest deepest browns and purples out of Kodak stock… Alexandre Desplat starting with what seems like a very polite classical score and then gradually bringing in heavy synth bass… and of course Nicole Kidman throwing herself headlong into an insane role (and apparently bullying the producers for more $$$ when they finished under budget)

Because of the extensive tradition of pirate radio in the UK (from Radio Caroline on down), London probably has the most insane landscape of 24/7 internet radio in the world. I've tried to rank these in terms of approximate popularity ranging from NTS (as mentioned) on down to purely DIY weekend-only amateur collectives like LWSTD. If you don't know the stations in your city, just have a quick google and do some Instagram "Following" list exploration and it should be pretty easy to find more (e.g. in Amsterdam check out Echobox, Radio Tempo Não Pára, RRFM, etc...) - NTS (Dalston) https://www.nts.live/ - Rinse FM (Hoxton) https://rinse.fm/ - Worldwide FM (Islington) https://worldwidefm.net/ (currently mostly on ice but great archive) - Balaami (Peckham) https://www.balamii.com/ - Soho Radio https://sohoradiolondon.com/ - Reprezent Radio (Brixton) https://www.reprezentradio.org.uk/ - Netil Radio (Hackney) https://www.netilradio.com/ - Subtle Radio (Hackney) https://www.subtleradio.com/ - Voices Radio (Kings Cross) https://www.voicesradio.co.uk/ - Aaja (Deptford) https://aajamusic.com/radio/ - Do You!! The less you read about it (or look at maps) the better. Just enter via Haight Street, turn your phone off and wander 'til you reach the ocean. If you go on a Sunday afternoon and you didn't already come across it, proceed to turn your phone back on and track back to the 6th Avenue Skate Park to check out the roller disco party 🛼🔊😎
