I first saw you You had on blue jeans Your eyes couldn’t hide anything I saw you breathing And I saw you staring out in space Cowbells?! Sure! I cried a lot to this song when I was 16 and I wasn’t ever sure why - the fragmented and intimate lyrics probably were how I wanted people to think about me after whatever party i barely squeezed my way onto the guest list for and the raw droning guitar interspersed with feedback squeals and expressive drums still send me into a haunting dream of parties of another age with flirting queens and blue jeans and grooving saints - only to knock me back down with a clattering knock of a wooden spoon on a pot? In any case it is the most beautiful song I know probably Like Saint Joan Doing a cool jerk Oh, I want you Like a kanga roo

something a little unsettling about k shields spitting horny bars but it’s awesome Soft as snow but warm inside Penetrate, you cannot hide Feeling lost forever, really need you Feeling dark and feeling true This is all I ever knew Soft as skin in leather and I whisper, "You" [Chorus 1] Harder you come down on me (Ooh, ooh) Sink away, you look happy (Ooh, ooh) Secrets keep forever, they're undressing me (Ooh, ooh) Come inside, it's warm in here (Ooh, ooh) Better now to have no fear (Ooh, ooh) Carried on a wave, where it can lead you? (Ooh, ooh) Etc.

The passion… the romance… and of course, the falsetto!

Just overpowering soulfulness. An amazing musician and singer, such an incredible loss when his demons got the best of him. The sound he makes coming out of the conga break (around 9:10) gives me goosebumps.

This song is about as corporate country as you can get, but I can't resist singing along and thinking happy thoughts whenever it comes on.

Sounds to me like Al Green and the Stones had a baby. My favorite song off their Half the City album. Don't care much for their subsequent work (aside from Apollo, which I could listen to on endless repeat), but this album kicks ass from start to finish.
