about something you didn’t study in college, and you don’t work in. And I mean really learning. i.e reading an entire book on the topic, or going to a talk, or taking a MOOC. (Post inspired by me about to try to read a whole book about the internet and web3 and blockchain etc. etc. etc.)

i love being an information sponge! it doesn't matter if the subjects have no direct connection to your chosen trade– by proxy of you learning about these topics, your brain starts making connections and allows you to think more creatively about how you approach problems within your life and maybe even your career field!

Find something that tickles ur brain and dive in, ideally sitting at a desk and having some kind of place to take notes, write questions you have, and note down resources. I think it can really improve your relationship to yourself to see that ur capable of not just scrolling mindlessly for hours, but for caring deeply about a topic, treating it seriously and with curiosity. Doesn’t need to be an intellectual topic at all! I’ve just started lap swimming so am ‘studying’ freestyle technique, what drills to do, the swimming styles of various Olympians etc

If you’re within an hour walk from home, you should just walk home. I understand taking public transit or an Uber there to be on time, but you’re not rushing to get home. Thus, walk.
be out with the old and in with the new!! you do not need to follow someone you met once 7-10 years ago.
