I use a whiteboard on my fridge to keep lists of tasks I need to do both short term and long term. I use a calendar with little stickers to mark when I do the things I say I'm going to do. There's a reason we learn to be rewarded with stickers as kids: it works and is satisfying.

i need structure to survive and it helps to add things to my calendar, because in my brain it's like i've "signed up" to do something for a certain amount of time. whether its a hobby, workout, researching a project, an errand etc it goes in my calendar or to-do list. even if i already did x thing that day, i put it on the list just to cross it off which feels nice :-) it helps me not gaslight myself into thinking i didn't do anything because i can look at the list!

when i have many things to do i make a list and then i write everything on sticky notes, put them on my wall and move them around based on priority it helps me cause 1- i dont want the notes up forever, so i am motivated to take them down and the only way to do that (in my head) is to complete them 2- i can rearrange the order in which i do things if need be so i dont have to be stuck on "what should i do first" or "if i dont do this one thing i cant do the rest" 3- they help me stay on task and get less distracted 4- the sweet ecstasy like catharsis i get when i complete a task and remove a sticky from my wall and throw it away hits so good

Hello stationary nerds! Being 30 means I spent my school years using a notebook planner for assignments and reminders but since college I've been using apps for calendars+tasks. But last week the revelation came out of nowhere (that's a lie, my wife suggested I needed something more tangible to organize my chaotic brain) and I've never felt more relieved since I got this whiteboard. She specifically recommended this one which allows me to have long-term projects/reminders on the right and pin cute polaroids in the cork section below. BONUS: Tiny tab post-its & ultra-fine coloured markers. Tabs for categorizing and be able to move things around without having to erase something constantly. Ultra-fine markers to write more things in small spaces. 0.7mm is what I'm using. Have fun!!

There’s always room for fun and whimsy but infantilizing yourself (esp as a woman) is a dangerous game to play. Take proper care of yourself, it’s a good thing to be a grownup. “im baby” is no more!!!

Just like back in the old internet days when you'd read an internet word like gif that never came up in irl conversations and everyone kinda just had their own perception of it.
