trace or measure the item on butcher paper, mark the spot exactly for the nails/screws. tape to wall, adjust, live with it for as long as desired. nail directly through paper for guides. life changing
Hey I love prototyping like this too! I have just enough tools that I mocked up a small table, 20 min and $3 in wood, to get a real feel before buying a nice one. (I still have not bought one.)
This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing. I suppose you could do the same for a piece of furniture, using the butcher paper as a footprint or a few cardboard boxes as a mock-up before you commit to buying it.
Drill that hole, pop that wall mount in. Hang that bulky shelf you like and live your best happy home life. We'll figure out how to repair the holes later.
