trace or measure the item on butcher paper, mark the spot exactly for the nails/screws. tape to wall, adjust, live with it for as long as desired. nail directly through paper for guides. life changing

Hey I love prototyping like this too! I have just enough tools that I mocked up a small table, 20 min and $3 in wood, to get a real feel before buying a nice one. (I still have not bought one.)

This is a great idea. Thanks for sharing. I suppose you could do the same for a piece of furniture, using the butcher paper as a footprint or a few cardboard boxes as a mock-up before you commit to buying it.

For some reason my dad had me believe that they never worked and they were some kind of myth... Like homeopathic medicine... I just found out they do work and i'm gonna be hanging and mounting shit everywhere
