I first found out about him when he performed in Porter Robinson’s Secret Sky Fest in 2021, and the rest is history. His music to me has just been the perfect combo of the most formative genres to me growing up, like the alt-rock I would listen to on the school bus radio, and the electronic music one of my high school besties put me on to. It’s just so nostalgic for me yet feels so fresh at the same time.
And then in 2023 he put out his second EP “Everything Perfect” and holy shit!!! I saw and continue to see a lot of myself in that project with just how much of a ride love can be, especially if it’s unrequited.
I saw James Ivy perform live at the Bowery Ballroom supporting that album and it was one of the best and most fun nights of my life. I can go on and on but I’ll stop myself here hehe

I just found out about James K and I have been so enthralled by their music. It feels fresh and breezy and makes me feel like it's actually NEW to my ears and not something rehashed. It also reminds me of my close friend :)

Okay, I just HAVE TO share my thoughts on the new Alex G album… The summer before 8th grade, an internet friend of mine (we met through the fan page I ran for The Garden😭) posted about how much she loved Alex and specifically his song Sandy. I went to Alex’s Bandcamp and started with the first track listed, Joy. I instantly fell in love and listened to his entire discography at the time. I had never heard music like that before, which opened up an entirely new musical world for me. I have an obsessive personality, so as a teen I was biggg fan girl, almost unhealthy… I wanted to know everything about him, gather all the lore, read every interview, and watch every video posted on YouTube (which I successfully did until he gained more recognition). This was before he released Rocket.  I joined an Alex discord server and met some of the most important people in my life at the time. No better feeling than bonding with other high schoolers across the country over our love for music! We met each other irl and traveled at least once a year to visit each other. I started a record label with them and met my bff at the time, who I also dated for 5 years. Even though we are not a part of each other's lives anymore, I am forever grateful for those experiences. As a depressed teenager, I really needed them and Alex’s music. I’ve met him about 6 or 7 times and seen him live at least 10 times. I’m proud of his success, totally different vibe than when I discovered him. I understand why people like the music so much! It's the same reasons that appealed to me. Although it will never be the same, I will be a fan until the end of time. My favorite musician of all time, no one compares!!! I feel so happy today :) My top tracks from Headlights: Bounce Boy, Far and Wide, Louisiana, and Spinning, but I love them all!!! I will be listening to this album on repeat. Music Is Awesome And Brings People Together 🥲

Scott is an old friend from school. We bonded over Radiohead, Debussy, and making detail-oriented architectural rock music during the Spotify “bedroom pop” era. Scott is the type of musician who makes music constantly and releases it sporadically. He’s one of my favorite songwriters and an expert texturalist. Check out his single “No Changes,” the “Shelter Island Heights” EP, which I consider the classic era of his early work, or “One of a Kind,” my personal favorite.

I filed a complaint with a bunch of receipts to my city's rent board last month after my landlord notified me of another increase, and turns out she was in violation of increasing rent within 12 months following a previous rent increase
The city just told my landlord to reimburse me the excess rent, and my current rent must remain in place until next March for her to be in compliance (she wanted to raise it another 10% in October lol)
