I physically get closer to things I want to experience. I can't learn to sail, for example, if I'm no where near boats, preferably ON one, although within visibility is measurable improvement. Same with how often I engage with that thing. Once a year becomes once a month at worst, and at best daily (or your smallest frequency of choice.) Again, this is a quantifiable thing I can reflect on and change. Pseudo-scientific way I have motivated myself to get to experience things I wanted. Getting involved in internet startups (don't judge), learning to sail, finding musical collab projects etc. I'm a simple man, so a simple rubric like this is effective for me, hope it's at least thought provoking for you.

Even if something comes into my mind as a flying thought I act upon it. The other day I went to a rifle range because I wanted to know how to shoot a gun (idk man just in case). I drove like an hour and a half to the club, bandwagoned some friends as well. I don't think it's just about what's available—it's also about seeking it actively. If you wanna do pottery you find a pottery place, or find something similar, or D.I.Y it at home (some how....if the will is big enough). Anyway, I think "stuff to do" for me has to challenge me in someway. And I'm not talking bout climing Everest. It can just be as simple as something out of my "norm".

(specifically behavioural experiment — really putting my psych degree into good use huh?) i don't know man but this really helps me get unstuck from an all-or-nothing mindset and the insane analysis paralysis from even doing the most menial of tasks look just set it from a random number of days and put a random thing to focus on and see what happens i don't even have to stick to it — this isn't even a "serious/legitimate" experiment at all — i give myself the grace to fail at this "experiment" completely and i try to take as much emotional weight from it as possible the whole of point me doing this in the first place is ripping off the band-aid: any action is good action at this point, i don't want to ruminate anymore and i want to build momentum (even if it seems embarrassingly insignificant) if it works out: good!! if it doesn't work out: also good!! the whole point of this is trial and error and honestly just bridging the gap between idea and execution and getting rid of friction between tasks as much as possible... we can always change the hypothesis and the experiment... back to the drawing board we go!!!

In my experience, life moves by very fast when I get into routines. Do you like your current routines? Do you have any personal goals you'd like to achieve that new experiences could help with?

I'd NEVER pay for a algo-driven, ad-saturated social network...so even if it's purely symbolic in the long run, I just upgraded to demonstrate with my wallet that there is a market for this cool community.

I know I'm not cool. That's why I appreciate the PI community for letting me play at being cool. I feel like a hipster pollywog with a protective froggie parent letting me explore the pond safely. Sure, at some point I'm likely to get snatched up as a seagull's breakfast, but I'll enjoy the pond while I can. Thanks.

Probably picked it up from Reddit, I feel good when saying this, no idea why.
