is STILL free for fam members. It’s so hard to find a place where u can sit unbothered for hours anymore (esp without spending money), yet ikea restaurant persists. Also a nice place to people watch & fantasize about having kids (that family looks so vibrant and beautiful) or not (those kids are nuts, im so lucky)

Where else can you get a pot of tea and cake until 3 in the morning? Ugh, it’s awesome. They have a bunch of old chairs and artwork in there. When I’m in cafe Reggio I’m always like why isn’t every cafe like this? Why does every cafe look like a scandinavian wet dream? I want table service. I want coffee mugs. To go shouldn’t even be an option. To go where? You’re already here.

currently Not experiencing this and wish i was. i know that me lingering here on my laptop isn’t good business and this hostile ass architecture will drive me out sooner than later, but i think something’s fucked about the state of spaces like this if customer turnover is the goal. we’re in a cozy cafe drought

If you want to feel like you’re in the Microsoft Windows background but better, go to Kaffi Sól in Iceland. I stopped by on a camping trip through the Westerfjords; it’s a café inasmuch as it’s a room adjacent to Sól’s house. You order in her living room, and she brings your coffee and toast out to you on a sprawling patio that overlooks a fjord. The sun, the mountains, nearly nothing else in sight except the Holt Inn across the water. Like a storybook—and the coffee is excellent.

cable management is OUT. let those bad boys run wild. let them run across your walls, cluster inconveniently on the floor, dangle from your tv. let them get tangled in a tote bag by the couch over years and years, until you eventually need to fish that one cable out, & you experience that special brand of frustration again: how could I have let myself do this? and then, when you finally do claw that one cable free: a feeling of having ultimately Won in the battle of choosing chaos over order.
