last year i felt from the bart (sf subway) stairs and sprained both my ankles. a woman next to me was sprinting because a train was coming and i went along. it was not even my train. i was carrying a bag with lunch, carrot soup in a glass container. it splashed all over the floor, big orange splatter, very dramatic. after a year my ankles are still swollen and i can’t wear the friendship anklet my best friend got us. my point being, rushing is evil and never really worth it.

Done this solo, done this with new friends. It’s painful everytime to be like “run!” And the subway doors stay open for another minute or so.

Why does this happen virtually every time I go anywhere? And a lot of the times these are actual new Yorkers, not just tourists. Move the fuck down into the train and don’t just congregate with 20 other people by the door when you’re not getting off the train! It baffles me that people lack even this amount of common sense and is a sure fire way to get me ranting (is this why Larry moved to LA?).

a big pet peeve I have is people complaining about not having community or only having “party friends” etc BUT are they inviting their existing friends or acquaintances to go out for dinner, go thrifting, watch tv, book club, people watch, day trip, mulberry picking? no, they are not. are they introducing their friends to each other? also not. i hate to be a clichĂ© sometimes you gotta put some work into having the relationships you long for. plus: you’re part of the problem. AND have some appreciation for the friends you have instead of focusing so much in what you don’t.

Nothing annoys me more about the American culture than the lack of enthusiasm. If I invite you to go somewhere and your answer is “sure” or “why not”, I’m taking it back. I do not wanna be surrounded by indifferent people. It’s unworthy.
