alone or with friends! it's so important to actually finish a project. even if the results aren't like what you imagined. even if it'll never be seen by anyone but you. just create!!!♥ #freewill #yasss

If you are making art for yourself, you are playing, not working. I like to really lean into this and do something completely unstructured either as a warm up or as a break while I’m working on a project. I like to do what I call “shit canvases” where I use up old supplies and garbage and what not. I layer things onto the canvas, building up some parts as I go, covering parts I don’t care about as much, maybe even ripping things off of it. I also so something on a smaller scale in my journal. Maybe I’ll start with a scribbled rant, or writing a few phrases down, and then I start to cover it with more words, or stickers, or I paint a little thing, or a sticky note, then more paint, then take the sticky note off. I have no end goal in mind, I’m just playing and seeing how things work together. Make yourself let loose

create without the thought it is “for” something. let the project be whatever it wants to be, and recognize you are bringing it to fruition because something vital within you is actualized in doing so.
when you create independent of outcome, the sense of pressure dissipates and there’s more room for originality and enjoyment.

everyone þese days is trying to tap into þe medieval vibes but no one even knows what þey're looking at. quite frankly it makes me wonder if y'all really read beowulf like þat. if you really fuck wiþ tolkien source material like þat. but þey send one olde english word to þine email every day so you can be auþentic. a lot of it is not practical but þere are plenty of gems and forgotten words þat deserve to survive!

a lot of people don't realize that whole foods has a robust nationwide mutual aid program for giving free goods to community members like you. when you pay for your groceries, instead of going to a cashier, you simply go to the area called "self-checkout" and you're actually able to bag your own items. that means less work for the workers and gives you a little more autonomy in your shopping experience. i usually end up saving a lot of money this way too!
