You have to stick with it. It’s a multi month process. You’ll feel like you’re not improving. But your body will be adapting. And suddenly one day you’ll realize you don’t need a break. You can run another mile. And another. And another...
At least that’s how it happened for me.

I stopped running for the summer and switch to cycling and swimming to give my joints a rest. When I started again this fall, the first run back sucked ass. Everything hurt, I couldn't get enough air, and my pace was embarrassing (compared to past performance). But just one week later, my legs toughened up, I felt bouncy, and my time improved. It's amazing how quickly the human body can reconfigure itself to meet a challenge.
Runs are back to feeling fun.

You get a free tshirt…and then you wear it and people are like “whoa did you run that?” And you’re like “yeah, I have another one next Sunday” and they’re like “damn queen”….also running is good for you

If you’re within an hour walk from home, you should just walk home. I understand taking public transit or an Uber there to be on time, but you’re not rushing to get home. Thus, walk.
