Oh my god. Just finished watching this. It is a Complete Masterpiece. Jacques Tati has a stunning vision of the future — one filled with confusing useless technology, clueless businessmen, and disastrous restaurants turned bacchanalia. Every frame is bursting with life and humour, but it never dips into meanness. There's a genuine sense of warmth. I think I was smiling throughout the whole film, at least when I wasn't laughing. Can't praise this enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

every beautiful work of film is at the same time an expression of the artist's political critiques and their own freaky fantasies and this one's no exception, truly beautiful stuff

New novel by Rachel Cusk—sharp, insightful, surprising. Finished this one over a week ago, and I’m still unpacking all the ground she covered here… One of our best living writers

I think I’m not a very good friend, but I’m not sure how to fix my behavior. I just keep getting in my own way.

I turned 30 in 31 days, so I’m going to document 30 films that I consider canon classics that define my taste, experience, interests, or … The first one that came to mind was The French Lieutenant’s Woman. Love how enigmatic this one is. Now streaming for free on Tubi and PlutoTV, also on Prime, Hulu, YouTube, MGM+, Philo, Sling, and for rent on Apple
