Haha, I just saw this movie again. It’s so fuckin epic, maybe the best white-knuckle roadtrip thriller. The movie was a commercial failure of the 70s but lives on to be a severely underrated cinematic GEM! The Tangerine Dream score is awesome, the hyperrealistic, on-location filmmaking approach is treacherous and suspenseful, the man v. nature metaphor/moral through-lines of the film are always relevant… a true showcase of what elemental mayhem and slow psychological deterioration does to a group of crooks and criminals!
