i went into jo malone to inquire about this perfume i have been a bit obsessed with (ginger cookie). a girl my age working informed me that it was a limited edition run and they no longer carried it. i was devastated but nevertheless, ended up in conversation with her about how much i liked her shoes and her, my outfit.
āhold on a second,ā she went into the back and made me a sample of a leftover stock bottle. i use my little bottle sparingly and think of the kindness often š«

i bought it when i lived in canada, just a tiny vile of it, called commodity: gold. it was juniper berries, vanilla, amber, sandal wood and musk. i wore it as i explored the rocky mountains, made friends in the snow, experiencing a sense of freedom iād never felt before.
i loved it so much and little did i know it would all be gone when i landed back in australia. slowly leaking into a random makeup bag during the 15 hour flight.
i havenāt bought it since, i donāt know why. i think iām scared that if i smell it again i will miss that time in my life, where i was far away from everything in my life, surrounded by canadian snow.

it was one of the best scents i ever smelled. fresh, clean with a hint of flowery sweetness but so incredibly unique. i had maybe 2 or 3 situations since then (about 16-19 years ago omfg) where someone passed me by and they smelled like that and unfortunately i never asked them what they were wearing. it is my life's mission to one day get a hold of this perfume.

* Coty Dark Vanillaāso simple but so good. The heady floral and musky notes keep it from being a cheap saccharine desserty gourmand vanilla itās just really sexy and mature. Itās discontinued so itās pretty pricy at about $50 for a 1.7 oz bottle considering that you used to be able to buy it at the drugstore for like 20 bucks
* Fracas by Robert Piguetāclassic fragrance for divas only, like Madonna, Courtney Love, and Marlene Dietrich. I still have the same bottle I got in high school after buying a perfume book and painstakingly researching to decide what I really wanted in my perfect perfume and saving money and birthday money for a whole school year. I wear it on happy days I want to remember forever so the association I have with it of pure joy becomes stronger every time. It smells like carefree summer to me!
* I actually love tuberose so much that Iāve been using Alba Botanicaās tuberose body wash itās soooo good
* Iāve also recently been wearing the bottle of Juicy Couture my grandmother gave me forever ago when she was still alive which was her signature scent simply because it had a schnauzer on the bottleāher favorite dog. Itās also extremely tuberose heavy and that may be why I fell in love with it in the first place. Itās grown on me i weirdly like it a lot
* I wear kuumba made amber and sandalwood perfume oil as a daily scent which matches my sandalwood sandal deodorant (rec coming about this soonā¦) for a nice crunchy hippie vibe
