Stop walking into bookstores and asking for a particular title bc it’s a bestseller 😴 Go walk outside to the used $3 rack and comb it like you’re looking for lice on an eight year olds greasy head. I mean, look at every title. Pick up the ones that truly speak ur name and leave the others for their fated owners. Once ur arms are full of slept on bangers for cheap$, u are allowed entry to the main event. Inside, peruse carefully but whimsically, let urself be pulled this way and that by a nice font and a bright cover and a tempting staff rec sticky note. If you are determined to find a particular book bc ur bff w good taste recd it or ur in a book club then u are allowed to hunt for it, but u must HUNT. u can only ask for help if u are in a horrible rush, or truly cannot find the title after giving it your best effort. Otherwise, listen to what the shelves are telling you👂 It is in this manner I have found many of the best books I’ve ever read… those recs coming soon

Walking from bookstore to bookstore without knowing if they’ll have the book you’re looking for builds character…plus ordering books online is gross what if there’s an ugly mark or fold like

Not be that guy that judges books by their covers…but if you’re looking to build up your classics library, go the used/vintage route. The reward is threefold as you can support a small business, enjoy a great book, and have a copy that looks 10x cooler and has some age and wear on your shelf! (you are still going to read it though right?) Brand new book designs these days just don‘t do it for me!

I laughed out loud more than once which is all the Rec a movie needs... flipped to this while on a plane as a whim & now it’s my favorite film of the year and probably next year? Jimmy Tatro is vintage. Rebecca-Diane (!!!) (Molly Gordon) and Amos (Ben Platt) are hilariously heartfelt. Ayo Edibiri keeps a straight face while saying she picked up juggling to deal w the trauma of her house being lit on fire.

u may only be familiar w the mkt in the summer / fall when the bounty is abundant, but real ones know the market blesses all winter long (bok choy is a winter veg !!!!!) 🙏 last yr I picked up bags of sunchokes w/o any idea what they were and one google search later i had cheffed up a top tier soup…as poets know a strict form sometimes induces the greatest creativity. eat w the seasons & support ur local farms 🍠
