I recently found out that you can download like basically every magazine for free on libby (shoutout the library?) and read them in your bed in the morning. Like a healthy morning scroll except it doesn’t make you feel awful.

First you need a library card which is also something I highly recommend. Libby is my favorite recommendation and I will talk about it whenever I get the chance. Because it’s also free.
You can read magazines which will give you something to do on your phone instead of doomscrolling. You can listen to audiobooks too and they have literally everything. You can look at an eBook of a cookbook and get a recipe.

I love “the simple things” and now I can read it for free and screenshot recipes and articles I like???? Incredible.

What they don't want you to know about that paywall is that you can get the viral New York Mag article or whatever on the Libby app. Having a library card is very dope for many reasons but especially because I don't have to pay for the New Yorker or the Paris Review

Videos. Journals. Planners. Calendars. Playlists. Spreadsheets. Letters to open in the future.
Keeping track of the present (in a way that is low stakes and fun) keeps me from dwelling on the past or feeling upset about changing. It will be there for me if and when I want to return to it! And I get to dip into the things I have thought and felt and loved in the past and maybe they become part of my life again or they don't!
I also love to experiment with form in the ways that I record myself. Journals are a classic, but doing something like journaling in a planner with limited space or on a calendar means you have to pick just one memory from each day. Or making playlists / watchlists / reading lists of what's important to you at a time. Embarking upon fun little challenges of discovery (places, songs, books, movies, foods) and keeping track of what you learn in an organized (or disorganized) way! Video journals or little vlogs just for yourself! Scrapbooking!
Fun in the moment to create and fun in the future to rediscover.
