this is way easier than people think for the most part, at least for certain types of houseplants/cacti/succulents that aren’t super hard to care for. They just need a little tender love and care (different pot and water)
People at my building are always getting rid of plants when they move out and they look dead, but they come back pretty quick. the vine in the pic I attached of my bookshelf was literally like a brown root that sprouted back to life when I got it a year ago.
You can also go to the bargain section of a lot of the big box stores like Lowe’s or Home Depot and get plants super cheat. Again, all you really gotta do is trim the dead stuff and water it.
