For the past few weeks... months? I've been having Two fried eggs in corn tortillas with chipotle hot sauce Korean bbq style pork and rice A spinach and fruit smoothie with protein powder and collagen Rice Krispie treats or a handle full of chocolate chips. I'll double up, I'll mix the order around, and I'll have chocolate chips for breakfast. But it's mostly these same foods over and over. I always found repetitive eating a little weird but here I am. One part of me knows I am a little depressed, but the other part loves to have at least one familiar and totally brain-free part of my life.

As my cousin Ronnie would jokingly say at family reunions, I’m on the seafood diet—I see food, I eat it!! I have historically had a problem with overeating snacks and if I buy chips it’s really easy for me to eat them all in one sitting. I embrace an ingredients household mindset and try to only buy whole foods based snacks like cheese, nuts, etc that are so boring and wholesome they’re kind of hard to eat too much of them. Demonic food scientists and executives at corporate conglomerate food manufacturers, many of whom worked at cigarette companies in the past, have engineered hyper processed foods to be optimally addictive. I replace the chips I used to be addicted to with alternative snacks that use better ingredients and typically come in much smaller bags—I have yet to find my methadone for my drug of choice, HOT CHEETOS because I’m OPPRESSED and the bougie snack industry evidently doesn’t care about MY NEEDS—and I portion them out into bowls when I eat them then put the bag away. If you have some kind of an Uber Eats/Doordash problem then delete those apps because it’s too easy to just summon whatever you want whenever you want, on a whim. Make it so if you want to get food you have to go out and work for it. Add friction to counterbalance your impulsive nature! And when you eat, eat mindfully and slowly. Also if you’re regularly craving certain foods I hear that it can have something to do with nutritional imbalance so be mindful of that…

Right now i’m pacing around my kitchen head banging to incubus embarking on a fruit and vegetable power eating circuit. I’m taking straight up frozen broccoli and doing sets of 10x florets like it’s chin-ups or something.. switching of it’s 10 x Brussels sprouts.. I can barley even taste what i’m eating.. in between, I'm drinking cups filled with frozen cherries, blueberries, raspberries etc (taste like candy) … sure i enjoy the popular.. casual.. communal.. ritualistic.. aspect’s of preparation dining and what not.. but i think for even just 20 min out of your day it’s important enough to give an approach like this a try.. and i think there’s something to standing and moving while chewing and digesting that dials in your metabolic rate.. because before you say it, yeah.. i know about smoothies You’re not only consuming multiple servings of fruit and vegetables in such a small window of time, but produce that is flash frozen on sight often retains more nutrients than fresh produce.. “It’s not so much about what you do eat, it’s about what you don’t“ - Me

I am trying to get 20-30 plant foods in per week but I be busy as fuck and the thought gets overwhelming so here’s what I’ve come up with… I take 10 minutes to chop up three days worth of some raw veggies that I like to eat on the side of whatever protein. what is “whatever protein”? Cheese squares, cold cuts, cottage cheese, lentils/beans/any legume, meat from a rotisserie chicken or a pot roast that I prepped (also so hands off and easy). to further boost my plant intake, I have a mix of a bunch of random nuts and seeds that I can rely on. for something sweet, I plop a few scoops of Greek yogurt into a container and throw frozen berries and mango on top. EASY. Nourished. I am allotted Diet Coke as well, I’m not a sadist!!!???!!?!?

When I stopped thinking about "fixing my life" and "getting disciplined" and started focusing on how nice I would feel in my clean room, how calm I would feel if I maintained my calendar, and how good I would feel eating 3 healthy meals, it became much easier. It feels like you are indulging in the good stuff rather than punishing yourself with it.
