Don't let anyone discourage you from learning Norwegian, or Welsh. Or Coptic. Things don't have to always have utility, they can just be interesting and broaden your worldview.
Even if you aren't gonna be fluent it's fun to explore other languages. Just signed up for an "intro to Korean" seminar and honestly? Who cares if I can only introduce myself, I'm doing it to have fun and mastering the hobby isn't a requirement for enjoyment.

I know you could do more with French and Spanish in Europe, but Welsh and Irish feel like the neighbouring fairy languages to my native Estonian that help you further understand how language captures culture
I want to regularly exchange hand-written letters with someone in a distant country and confide in them as we share our day-to-day struggles, passions, dreams etc. and learn about each others' cultures
