trying to escape instagram

yet i feel like i need it for work.. but also do i rlly wanna interact w ppl who see me as an Instagram-first character. my most used atp r this site, tumblr, and i love an are.na rabbit hole too. i do enjoy tiktok bc i have trained my algorithm to mostly show me fashion stuff. i've set app limits but the one more minute button keeps defeating me. I will prevail

If you use soc med with intention, i think it’s really good

Concentrate on accounts you follow, and expect to run out of things to look at. Avoid “for you” and “suggested posts/videos” - when you’re out of Following posts, you’re done :) People have said the internet is full of horrors, and I know that’s true, but I haven’t experienced it. That’s not to brag, just to show it’s possible! And I have spent my time on Tumblr, Reddit, pre-Musk Twitter, YouTube, instagram. Link goes to a post with specific advice for IG and YouTube. I don’t think Twitter can be used this way anymore, and you will have junk shoved into your feed no matter what. Maybe start fresh with new accounts to reset everything, too

Not to be sincere on main bUt

Context is that I'm severly and chronically depressed (yes, we all are, probably, I know) so when anything breaks through that thick framing in my mind it is... interesting? And this prompt of "reccomending" that's sparking overall genuine sharing of niche personal joys/experiences is definitely interesting, and kind of giving... AND possibly even lightly serving...

You can cheat on your bed

You can simply sleep on your overstuffed leather couch that's in your basement whenever you want btw. You can sleep there overnight. You can sleep there during the day. You can sleep on your guest twin mattress. Also, you can sleep on your shag IKEA rug that's on the floor for a nice spine and hip alignment reset.
