borrowing books from the library

-it's (mostly) free
-low stakes, u can change books if u don't like them and just borrow another one!
-gets me out of a reading slumps bc i have a deadline to read them instead of just being able to allow them to collect dust on my bookshelf forever
-supports one of the few remaining free third spaces
-finding paragraphs someone else underlined and imagining the person based on that
-that hot pisces librarian that looks like german michael pitt and wears dress pants in the middle of summer. that's just my local library sorry

Taking out art books from the library

I don't have the cash or the space to buy these things, but I love reading them. My local library stocks new art books every week and I check out all of them. Even if it's not my thing, I can flip through it in ten minutes and feel like I did a good deed for my brain.

A Stacked Library Queue

If you aren’t too precious about owning every book you’ve read, get into your local library’s queue ASAP! I always have 7-9 hold requests at my local Brooklyn Public Library location. The game is to mix hyped new releases with just-new-to-me books so I always have something to read. It took me two months to get Sally Rooney’s latest, but Glitch Feminism arrived in just a few days. You can even get cookbooks. Recent highlights: Deacon King Kong, The Plot, Black Food, Temporary.

make small but political choices

stop going to Starbucks or McDonald's! delete X/Twitter and start posting on here or on Bluesky instead! stop legally streaming HYBE or SM Entertainment or any K-POP companies that refuse to see their artists as humans worthy of rights in the workplace! switch from Spotify to Apple Music or any other service that pay their artists more! we have so much power why do we forget
