new-ish novel(2021?) dealing with listlessness, ambition, and "love". Joyce-ian?(i've never read Ulysses). set in LA. very contemporary style--there's one sequence involving a trip on some kind of super potent MDMA that made me feel like my head was melting while I was reading it. wanted to restart it right after finishing the last page.

Grab a couple friends, watch (once per week, together or separately) classics/canonicals you otherwise would never have gotten around to, discuss irl or on Zoom. Feel free to hate, but also feel free to love There is literally no other way to get yourself to watch Jeanne Dielman, but boy-oh-boy you’ll be happy you did

Film Forum is the OG but Metrograph is younger and hungrier, with a more diverse slate of films and an emphasis on rediscovered or neglected classics. Great atmosphere too, with a restaurant and bookstore. you can’t go wrong!

i keep waking up in no mood to hear any music, podcasts, etc. and just focusing on the sounds of the commute. tune into that person mouthing off their lover on the phone. listen deeply to the screech of the subway as is settles into the station. embrace the sirens of passing emergencies. all are worth lending your ear to.
