The life of spanish trans icon: Cristina La Veneno which was filled with beauty, drugs & sadness. This series genuinely changed my life, I’ve cried so many times watching it and it showed me a story of a woman who deserved better. With a huge cast of trans women, it just made the experience of watching feel correct. It feels great to know that we’ve moved from the era of cis-women playing trans women on TV to trans women telling trans women’s stories. Such a beautifully shot series, beautiful story telling and gut wrenching in the end. I whole heartedly believe that every and any person should watch it. Spanish speaking person or not, I feel like you can learn a lot from this series and truly came back from it with a new perspective into things. PLS WATCH IT.

i watched this last year and i‘m still thinking about it .. i will recommend it to anyone who will listen! it’s a spanish series directed by los javis (known for paquita salas and veneno) and it’s about a mother and her two children and her indoctrination into a cultish situation and how this impacts their entire lives. it’s just so incredible and the only problem with the whole thing is that i can’t find it with english subtitles except for on the collector’s edition box set of blurays so it’s hard to recommend to a more international audience. but if you speak spanish please watch it 😓😓 i think it has been released on a streaming platform in other parts of europe as well (france, possibly) but yeah .. it’s really well made and really powerful….

I just saw this movie based on true story of a woman who’s family is separated during a time in Brazil when the country was under military dictatorship. It was devastating and beautiful. it captured beautifully familial joy but also the pains of the reality outside their safe space. I was amazed at Fernanda‘s portrayal in this role. The way she was able to play this character thats so strong yet on the precipice of bursting at any moment and doing her best to keep her family intact. Also loved how they captured Rio and little bits of São Paolo (tho I’ve never been to the latter) parts of this film reminded me of Motorcycle Diaries which I’ve just found out is directed by the same director as this film. few other facts I found out about this film: - the director grew up knowing this family the movie is based on and would frequent visits at their home in which they portray in the film. - Fernanda (the lead actress) just won a golden globe for this role as Best Female Actor in Motion Picture which her mother won 25years ago. I teared up when I found that out. - Fernanda’s mother is also in this role and plays the older version of Fernanda’s character. this film made me cry multiple times throughout in and grew the ache that already exists inside me to go back to Brazil. last year in April I had the chance of visiting Rio and honestly fell in love with everything about it. it felt like home. anyways. highly recommend watching this.

This woman is a gem of a talent. Her acting is visceral, palpable, but most importantly, real. Her portrayal of Tina Marrero in The Bear feels more like you're watching a documentary of a real person than some one-dimensional sketch of a Spanish caricature. I am so freaking elated she's the first Latina to win a Best Supporting Actress Emmy for her performance on this show. She's a force of nature and makes me proud to be a Latina 💛

Maybe I’m just psycho but like listening to sad music before going out is so Bible. I want to just feel to the earth before I‘m listening to dancing music all night. Even just listening before the pregame when you’re getting ready. It puts a cherry on TOP for my night.

I’m sorry but like nothing beats nearing the end of the night out with a Corona & a lime OR an Angry Orchard like it’s genuinely so Bible
