i've had a bad habit of asking for someone's instagram after a first hangout or meeting at a bar or whatever. and honestly that's not a route to knowing someone in a way that's personal or with any longevity, unless you want them to like you via your internet presence first, which, you shouldn't! i think you're gonna get much more out of a new friend by being intentional about reaching out and building that relationship via text or, even better, asking them to hang, then by starting the friendship parasocially online. would you rather build a friendship based on 1:1 connection or by the sort of open-call of interaction that we put out on social media? because with 1:1 connection, it sounds like you're gonna get more original and personal conversations.
