Apparently there is a whole subsection of vintage(?) maps being sold on Etsy. I wanted one of my Motherland ( 🇸🇮🇸🇮) and was surprised to find that there are like…tons available for very reasonable prices lol? I suppose even by the late 19th century printing maps would’ve been widespread. I was expecting something more like a coin collector environment but this was much more chill.
Anyway it’s cool way to connect w/ your culture and always a talking point. My favorite part of this map are the small areas illustrated outside of the defined edges. Hard to find such charming artistic liberties today.

my stara mama’s village is printed on this late-19th century map of “Krain”, the German name of the historical region Carniola, largely contiguous with modern day Slovenia
