I've been collecting records for a couple years, got a shit ton working at Rough Trade, variety, many new ones tho, great records, I enjoy them more listening all the way through, something I do but am not as good at while streaming. I work from home though, and recently, the more my "jazz fusion" collections or random compilations amass, the more I have to listen to for first time, specifically while working. It's a vibe to soundtrack everything though. I had to turn off while vacuuming though...haha

you really gotta rethink your relationship with music. I started buying records when I was a teenager and built up a pretty decent, curated collection over the years, but it’s really only worth it if you buy the albums you truly love and want to revisit over and over again. If you treat it like an extension of Spotify, where everything is available instantly, you will be broke and disappointed.
The other thing that people don’t tell you about buying vinyl is that it takes a lot of time. Buying used records is the cheapest way to build your collection, but that means rummaging through a lot of junk. This is fun! But it is also time consuming.

some people enjoy spending after hours shopping for new clothes. me? the record shop has always been a place of pure solace. the funny thing is, i don’t even own a record player - i just enjoy flipping through the lyrics and credits and immersing myself into the art of each album.

I have a pretty decent sized vinyl collection, but by seeing a physical copy of the artists music is really cool to me. You don’t experience it as each song individually, but you experience the album in its entirety in order, and you get to see even more love put into it by the way the cover is arranged and sometimes they put in little trinkets to let you know that the artist really loves you.

important, powerful, moving and depressing piece about the life of Jordan Neely. It's a critical NYC story and reveals serious flaws in our systems. Also is a thoughtful profile of a truly NYC figure.

Very easy, yummy, good flavor but you can make spicier if you want and add things like shrimp or veggies but at minimum, it’s flavorful broth and tofu
