The easiest tomato sauce i've ever made is somehow also the best. Add a can of whole tomatoes to a baking dish and crush by hand. Scatter with anchovies, crushed garlic, dots of butter, red pepper flake, s&p. Roast at 425 for 40 min. Your house will smell amazing.

The easiest and most forgiving pasta sauce recipe from the legend Kenji Lopez-Alt. You can’t f**k this one up. It’s really straightforward. Compared to traditional canned tomatoes, this one hits different, and probably takes half the time. I’ve had a surplus of cherry tomatoes from my mom’s garden, so I’ve had so much extra sauce, I’ve even turned it into a quick Tikka Masala.

Whether it’s actually from scratch (like roasting tomatoes in the oven scratch) or starting w a canned tomato base, making ur own sauce makes me feel like my regular degular pasta dish is elite and I am a Michelin star chef, and who doesn’t love to feel like a star?! (don’t even get me started on pasta al limone - literally so simple, you feel like a true Italian, and ur audience is wowed)

This NYT piece from last year explains why it’s actually a Good and Normal thing to do. I used to have like six in the bed at once but recently culled my crew to two practical ones: this sleeping Charmander plushie, which I hug while I’m in the fetal position, and an Ugly Doll I put between my knees because it’s nice and flat. They're so comfy and I fall asleep in 30 seconds like this (also they’re cute and I love them)

Consciousness can be agonizing but it's also a miracle. Sometimes the pressure to make the most of it feels debilitating. There's so much I want to do, and I have to remind that the stuff that really gives life meaning isn't hard to access. I think making a true effort to know yourself, make connections with the people around you, and observe and engage with the world are more than enough reasons to justify your existence.
