An artist I always like to recommend is Molly Drake (Nick Drake's mom) who wrote some incredibly unique music, all home recorded in the 60s. I like to say it sounds like Mary Poppins on anti-depressants.
Then maybe Tucker Zimmerman? Singersongeriter active since the 60s who just released a new album made in collaboration with Big Thief.
If you wanna try recent things, I find Allegra Krieger and Naima Bock two awesome singer songwriters

Whenever you feel troubled or bored or anxious or whatever bad feeling overcomes you, there's no better feeling than knowing you can always find a solution for youself. Easy or not, you can find a better place around the corner, leave things behind, start over.
