Specifically this one in Sheffield that is so stuck in time. it’s like objectively probably not a very good hotel for its price but I just love how liminal it is. I love how hotels feel removed from reality, from time, from responsibility. Everything is deliciously suspended.

When I’m in California, I have a rule: I don’t leave Bel Air, Beverly Hills or West Hollywood. To my friends in Silver Lake, I just can’t do it. Due to my self destructive nature, I’m automatically a Chateau Marmont guy at heart but I feel like when I’m at the Hotel Bel-Air, i’m the closer to the person I was born to be. I’ve never felt more peace than salt water swimming, ordering 50$ chicken tenders at 2am, mindfulness breathing in my hot tub on my suite’s patio. The beautiful swans in the garden at the entrance. I don’t feel safe, and struggle with emotional dysregulation if I’m not at a 5 star hotel.

This is Shasta. The three previous families that returned her to the shelter before her first birthday were idiotic. I am grateful everyday to be her family number 4.

Things like container ships and rail yards. Freight trains with trailers stacked on them to be attached to semis in El Paso. Someday I want to wander aimlessly at the Port of Los Angeles and watch the gantries.

Between sunset and sunrise the ionosphere opens up and you can manually tune in stations up to 1,200 miles away.... especially when you are in the middle of nowhere. internet..while easier to just click and listen... doesn't have the same thrill as the random find and evesdropping on another reality.
