There's a really cool intersection, a moment in time, in the early 2000's where mainstream Brazilian artists were producing songs with trip hop and drum & bass beats. I think it really hits the spot. It's been blissin my days out recently. Specifically, the Fernando Porto self titled album that came out in 2002! It has some bossa nova classics re-interpreted y2k style plus some originals. Other recs include Kaleidoscopio, DJ Patife and Fernada Abreu (1st & 2nd LP).

great rec! why did brasilian music/design pop off around y2k?? It defs had a moment in London. Basement Jaxx come to mind + Brazil hosted soccer World Cup in 2000. also nelly furtado nailed this trip hop / bossa sound on 1st LP in 2000, wish she did more. “Baby Girl” and “Party” from that record rly good. the Fernanda Porto record you found has “sky energy” idk what that means but it feels true
