one thing i‘ve learned in any and every trying time in my life... if no one got me, my watercolors do. i’ve kept a watercolor journal consistently since i was a lil kid. it was how i learned to make art, painting by my lonesome in my room. though i can’t argue i’m good… the creative practice i made all those years ago makes it sacred.

my artistic side has atrophied lately but starting to get back into it as i realize it's.. huge for my mental health. extremely low barrier to entry. give it a try and open yourself up to experimentation on a rainy day. go crazy. i painted a self-portrait using a mixture of ash, water, and coffee grounds.

A very difficult painting medium to master — but who said you had to master it? Spend time with the water and the pigment, don’t treat it like you would oils or acrylics or anything else. It’s very meditative. Don’t worry about it being good! Just create!

I've always strayed from art activities for the most part because I never viewed mine as adequate but I made this and I’m super proud of it and art is fun when you aren’t focused on being “good” at it!! Get out there and paint something ☺️☺️
