exiting conversations is such a cool thing to do. You gotta have some go-to phrases, and say them like it’s no big deal, because it is no big deal. I really enjoy leaving group conversations too. Just walk away and do something else if I don’t like what’s happening. “hey it was nice talking with you… I’m going to go grab a drink” “I’m going to see what’s happening over there“ “Excuse me, there’s someone I’ve been wanting to say hi to“ “I have to go powder my nose/use the WC/see a man about a horse”

never say bye

”bye” just feels extreme, as if it’s forever and permanent. I will always prefer something more casual like a “ttyl” or “see ya”. I know I can’t be the only one who sees ”goodbye” and “bye” as endings
