im sure u all know this but i never listened to broken social scene bc their name sounded like all the scramz bands my sister listened to when i was a kid that scared and confused and annoyed me but my friend eleanor showed me this song like 2 months ago when we were out on the porch huddling together for warmth and it is beautiful and devastating. i love when a song is so blunt that it feels like a lead pipe. "i swore i drank your piss that night to see if i could live"

not introspective but sounds very dreamy. this has been one of my favorite songs since high school.

there is something so cool about this unspoken juxtaposition rule in the more psychologically volatile genres, where the lyrics are bleak and anxious, always tapping into darker territory, but the melody remains beautiful and oddly comforting. i have been re-looping lots of carissa’s wierd - songs about leaving lately, and now this thought refuses to leave me alone. idk!!!! it’s just such a common case where something viscerally crushing happens to produce the most tender and fragile sounds, and i know it is a bit of a cornplate-level observation, but i have been pondering a lot about this

Genuinely I employ you to listen to this fucking song🫩🫩 It is so good. It is so heartbreaking. This was the only song I listened to when a friend of mine had a seizure, and I had to watch it with my eyes. This song I feel explains heartbreak or just missing the idea of someone really well by using concepts and it feels eerily familiar to like a Sinatra song✌️

if it was good enough for you as a kid it's good enough for you now. major bonus points if it's raining lightly.
