whenever i start to Feel Real Bad i delete all the social media apps on my phone and i force myself to go outside into nature more, see other people, and read easy/shorter books (that aren’t sad). i journal to get any bad feelings out and to help think through why i’m in a funk. i clean my sheets and try to not be in my bed from 10am-9pm. i paint my nails. i dance in my room. i try to switch up my routine, and also put more effort into my outfits and fun makeup (personally it makes me feel more functional). i don’t have a therapist right now (working on it!) but talking to one usually helps me. i go to people i trust for advice, bc sometimes the funk comes from feeling overwhelmed. i also try to listen to lots of fun music like house music and indie pop. i’m not great at doing all of these things each time but a combination of them usually does the trick for me !

I’m sorry you’re going through this! I linked to a depression questionnaire (it’s from the American Psychological Association so it’s legit, I’ve filled it out myself in the past!) because to me that’s what it sounds like you’re describing. Hopefully I’m overreacting! Some things that can help include: socializing more often, keeping a gratitude journal, meditation, physical activity, doing kind things for others. In the long run, therapy and medication can be great if you have access to them. And turn off your phone, of course.

lately ive found myself casually chewing on treats and stuff at work, and today I asked myself why...why can't I stop doing this? My reasoning was, "I'm tired and want to feel better." Hmmm..I think I associate food with "feeling better," like it will improve my mood – ie it's having a lasting effect on me and helping me get through the day, like it's my SSRI. Today I realized, maybe it's okay to just feel shitty and tired. I was pushing myself to be productive, efficient, energized etc "to feel better" so I could work better and feel better about the work I was doing. But why? I do a good job, the only difference is my attitude about it. You actually don't need to be EXCITED about work to get shit done. Obviously this isn't me saying you should deprive yourself, like go get your treats girl. But I just had never thought of it that way. So yeah, embrace feeling crappy

Shoutout if you do that. I have to personally, or else the plane will crash in the ocean.

My everything, found her online yoga/pilates classes in the pandemic and it seriously changed my life. I love to move my body but get overwhelmed at gyms and she’s all about taking a minute for yourself rather than losing weight or whatever and going sicko mode. Usually do a class a day and usually in my pjs tbh :$
