I donāt wear baseball hats. I donāt wear beanies. I donāt wear sun hats. But when stylist Emily Dawn Long designed her knit āWandaā bucket hat, I was enchanted. Mine is white and bright blue. Itās soft and foldable so I can stuff it into my purse or big pockets. When I wear my mask and hat, I feel like Iām hidden and protected from the world. I also feel a little like Captain Crunch when I wear it. Eric sometimes steals it but he looks really handsome so itās ok.

š¤ It started when I got self-conscious about my thinning mop, but now itās a āthingā and I like it. Generally I wear a striped Breton (gnome-y) beanie, but I have a collection of cowboy hats Iāve picked up in Texas on road trips over the years that Iāll wear to the beach. I hate suncream so itās good to keep the face in the shade. I bought my godchildren baby-sized striped beanies so we can match.

Hats are hard. The options are either ironic (Von Dutch) absurd (any fedora) or serving āmom on a cruise who desperately wants to dock so she can buy some local jewelry.ā But when I am outdoors I have to cover the face or I will turn millennial pink. Gemsun makes hats that are the perfect marriage between freaky lady of leisure and practical woman preserving her youth.Ā

š©It started with regular hats that others passed on - bucket hats, baseball caps from family, then I started buying hats - like sunhats, wider brim wool types, even a fedora inspired one, and when I picked up knitting, I made more hats...
Besides the standard types, people have gifted a fez, a traditional chullo and a beautifully embroidered Arequipa hat. I bought a hat here and there too, so it's getting to be a sizeable collection. But there are so many hats I still want to try! I want to get the Blockbuster beanie, a mariner's or sailor's hat, a OOO baseball cap from hoho coco, the Madhalla, that massive floppy sunhat (but I need more wardrobe or wallspace), the Assam hat (rice hat?), a cowboy hat, and so much more. It's my weird thing, but I love it, and I wear them all :))

š«I started a Rohmer binge earlier this summer when I was feeling cramped up, horny, and very far from Cannes. Little did I know all I needed was to hit play on a few of these flicks on Criterion, and all of my needs could be fulfilled. Rohmerās stories follow the most lovestruck, well-vacationed characters as they wash down kisses with martinis and fill their afternoons with silly games of phonetag and delectable meals. I love love <3

šI donāt have one but if you have one I canāt underestimate how important it is that you use it all the time. Ok I have a bath but itās so small and sad. I have to fold into a pretzel -- a tiny one in the Chex Mix pretzel, not a big Beer Garden pretzel -- to fit and it always feels like it has residue of my aforementioned hair dye. But if you have you use it for me. Spread out. Sprawl. Light candles. What a treat it would be to have a bathtub during a year like this. Iād buy a floating tray, candles, bubbles that would make me breakout. I have to leave this fantasy, itās making me cry.

š¶The only face I look at more than my boyfriendās these days is my own. In the mirror, on Zoom, in my selfie cameras. Like fermenting or trying a new format of the infamous ādistanced hangā, skincare is an experiment. Babyfacial is my weekly ritual in vanity. It tingles, it burns, and a day later my top layer of skin flakes off. But it leaves me glowing and feeling productive.
